A 2008 law was supposed to make it easier for mental health patients to get treatment, but without clear rules, insurance companies are often reluctant to pay the bill. Already  comments are coming in on the article  to indicate people’s outrage at a situation we have all known for too long.   The young girl described in the article was suicidal and cutting herself.  She was 13 years old . The doctors told her mother she was not safe to leave the hospital where she was admitted.  After a week the insurance carrier would not continue to pay for her to remain in the hospital.  This scenario was repeated about 12 times during a five-month span.
