The STEADY study is currently enrolling mothers who exhibit moderate to severe symptoms of borderline personality disorder (BPD) and who have a child three years of age (36 to 48 months) and their child for a four-part study that involves interviews, questionnaires, and interactive laboratory tasks. Compensation will be provided for participation in the study.

Some eligible mothers will be randomized to receive Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Skills Training, while others will continue to receive their Family Services as usual. Those randomized to receive DBT Skills Training will participate in 1 year of weekly, 2.5 hour DBT Skills Training Sessions lead by both a Therapist and master’s level clinician. The study will take place in the Oakland area of Pittsburgh. See brochure for more information.
